YOUTH BOOK CLUB COORDINATOR POSITION

 

Next Chapter Book is hiring a Youth Book Club Coordinator to work 30-40 hours per month. This position runs from September 2025 through May 2026. It is a hybrid role, on and off-site.

 

The Youth Book Club Coordinator is joining Next Chapter Books to help execute a grant-funded book club program for 20 middle school and 20 high school-aged students. The coordinator will help select books for both middle-grade and high school-level students, read each book, create discussion questions, and lead a one-hour book club with each age group on separate days. Book club meet-ups will take place at the bookstore during Next Chapter Books' open hours. The book club will run from October through May and is open to anyone in these age groups who chooses to sign up.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in selecting middle-grade and high school books for discussion, scheduling multiple books in advance.

  • Market the book club on social media through posts, stories, and reels.

  • Create monthly book club flyers on NCB’s Canva.

  • Read each book and prepare discussion topics that foster conversation, connection, and relevance to the group.

  • Host two different monthly book clubs, including an ice breaker and a short reading.

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.

  • Set up and break down the meet-up area and refreshments.

  • Keep track of books distributed to participants, as well as the number of attendees.

  • Meet with bookstore owners to discuss upcoming clubs and give feedback.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate.

  • Transportation to and from the bookstore.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in social media engagement

  • Experience with Canva or comparable design tools

  • Experience working with youth

  • LOVE OF READING!

 

This role is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt position. The pay for this role is $20.00 per hour, and the position is expected to work 30 to 40 hours per month, from September 2025 through May 2026.
